Stoubridge
The town takes its name from the River Stour which runs through the town, and is most famous for its central role in the production of glass making since the early 1600s.
Today, Stourbridge Glass is considered amongst the finest in the world and the Red House Glass Museum still holds regular demonstrations of traditional glass blowing techniques.
The town is well linked to a rail and road network and is close to the open countryside, with the Clent Hills and Kinver Edge both being popular locations with walkers and tourists.
There is also a thriving music scene, and during the late 1980s and early 1990s, several bands emerged from the town including The Wonder Stuff, Pop Will Eat Itself and Ned's Atomic Dustbin.
Stourbridge also has two colleges and a Steiner Waldorf school, as well as a leisure centre and a large park, Mary Stevens Park.
